Giving the boys away and getting a puppy!?!?!?

Two funny stories to share with my blog readers...

As part of our paperwork we have to show that our yellow lab, Dixie, is up to date on all her shots.
I called the vet to set up an appointment and explained to them that I would need 2 copies of her physical for our adoption paperwork. I reminded them again about the paperwork when I dropped her off. When I went back to pick her up the girl made a comment about us adopting a puppy!! I just had to laugh and said, "No, we are adopting a kid!" We all got a good laugh out of that one!

Then, the boys had to go to their pediatrician to have physicals and TB skin tests. I gave the adoption paperwork for them to the nurse. She filled out a good bit of the paperwork right there in the room with us, then she left to get the doctor. When he came in he said, "So we are getting these boys ready to be adopted?" Um...no sir! I told him these are my biological children, we would be adopting a little girl from India. (Side note...we have not had to go to the doctor in 6 months...I guess they forgot us, hahaha!) I had to work really, really hard not to laugh after we got that confusion corrected!! I told the boys he thought I was trying to give them away!

My sweet boys were troopers having to get the TB skin test. Eli volunteered to go first...
I think Caleb was the most nervous, especially after watching Eli's face during his. But he did great!
Poor Matthew had no idea what was coming. I held him, the lab nurse held his arm, and the doctor's nurse gave him the shot. Poor fella!!
Shhh!! Don't tell him he had to do that for baby sister!

I took them for ice cream after. That made it all better!

I am busy getting ready for our Adoption Yard Sale. We have been SO blessed with donations that we are going to have to do 2 yard sales. Our first one is this weekend, and we will probably do the next one sometime in September/October.

Also, as of last night, I am a Mary Kay consultant! I would love to set up a make-over party for you and your friends or place an order for you. Everything I make through Mary Kay will go into our Adoption Fund.

Adoption update...

We hit the ground running back in November getting the pre-application, background checks, adoption videos, etc. done. After Christmas we started the final application paperwork (you can read all about that here...Paperwork and more paperwork...).

But we had a major slow down all of a sudden...Our lovely insurance decided to kick our children off as of January 1. No letter, no phone call! I found out at the end of January when I scheduled Eli's well check-up. Almost 2 months (and lots of prayer) later we finally have them insured again. That slowed us down because part of the paperwork is that the boys have to have physicals and a TB skin test. So we go the last week of March for that (and probably ice cream after having to get pricked with needles).

I am hoping to have all the paperwork mailed to our agency by the first week of April. But we will see; I was hoping before to have it all mailed by the first part of March.

I am not stressing about it because I know God has our little girl for us in His timing. These slow downs are just leading us to our daughter; or baby sister, as she is called for right now by the boys. :)

Matthew loves to pray for baby sister! He says, "baby sister, amen!" I would love to know what that little mind is picturing when he prays for baby sister. I am sure it is not at all what is coming his way!

Ms. Pat, the director of Children of the World, put this on her Facebook page last night...

That is very encouraging and exciting for us!!

For now, I am staying busy making door hangers (see here) and getting busier with photo sessions (Heather Green Photography). We are looking forward to Spring Break and Easter coming up!!
